1.1 This Privacy Policy applies to the how we, Halo Guarantees Limited, collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects your personal information.
1.2 We are bound by the Privacy Act 2020 (the Act) and the Information Privacy Principles in that Act.
1.3 We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be published on our website and will apply from that date.
1.4 In this Privacy Policy reference to the Act includes all regulations, codes and amendments applying under the Privacy Act 2020.

2. Personal Information
2.1 Personal information means any information about an identifiable individual (e.g. your name, contact details, payment details, or any other data that can identify you).
3. When and how we collect personal information
3.1 We collect personal information:
- When you complete a Halo Guarantee agreement
- From your NZCB Member Builder, when they provide us information to make an application for a Halo Guarantee on your behalf
- When you use our website or online services (including cookies – see section 12)
- When you contact us (e.g. phone, email, forms)
- From NZCB
- From any other third parties you authorise, or where publicly available
4. What we collect
4.1 We collect personal information such as:
- NZCB Members’ staff members’ names
- NZCB Members’ customer names, addresses and bank account information
- Information about claims make by customers under their Halo Guarantee
5. How we use personal information
5.1 We will not use your personal information except in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Act.
- To verify your identity
- Providing services, benefits and products in connection with the Halo Guarantee
- Processing payments
- Responding to enquiries, complaints or claims
- Marketing and promoting our services, events or products – including:
- Email, phone and other direct communications
- Display advertising on platforms such as Google, Meta, LinkedIn or similar, using personal data (email addresses for targeting of audiences or matching)
- Sharing anonymised or aggregated data for analysis and reporting
- Developing and improving our services
- Meeting legal obligations
- Any other purpose authorised by you
- Any other purpose required or permitted under the Act.
5.3 You can opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe links in our messages.
6. Who we share personal information with
6.1 We will not disclose your personal information except in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Act.
6.2 We may disclose your information to other agencies
- Another entity within our group, such as NZCB
- Other third parties (for anonymised statistical information)
- A person who can require us to supply your information (e.g. a regulatory authority)
- Any other person authorised by the Act or another law (e.g. a law enforcement agency)
- Any other person authorised by you.
6.3 We may share personal information for the purpose of partnerships and advertising (only as necessary and permitted by law) with:
- Strategic Partners where collaboration supports member benefits, services or offers (e.g. insurance, financial services, or supplier discounts)
- Service providers that assist with digital advertising (e.g. Google Ads, Meta Ads, audience matching tools), but only where reasonable safeguards are in place.
- Our contractors and service providers, who support our business operations.
Where personal information is shared for these purposes, we require recipients to:
- Only use personal information for the agreed purpose.
- Protect personal information consistent with New Zealand’s privacy laws.
You can contact us at any time to opt out of participating in partnership marketing programs.
7. Disclosure outside New Zealand
7.1 Where we disclose personal information overseas (e.g. advertising platform services), we ensure the recipient protects the information to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.

- 8.1.2 Ensure third-party providers implement appropriate safeguards and meet the requirements of the Privacy Act

9.1 We retain personal information only as long as needed for its purpose or as legally required.
9.2 The relevant retention periods for personal information held by Halo are:

9.3 Personal information may be retained past the expiry of the relevant retention period if we still have a lawful use for it or it is necessary to help us meet our legal obligations.

- 10.1.2 Request access to your personal information
- 10.1.3 Request correction of your personal information
