Building a home or investing in a major renovation is a big commitment – both financially and emotionally. The Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee is designed to protect that investment long after the final handover, giving you confidence today and security for the future.

Exclusively available through New Zealand Certified Builders Association (NZCB) members, Halo provides confidence and protection for homeowners.

Why Choose the Halo Guarantee?

With Halo you get proven protection, competitive pricing, and the confidence that comes from working with an NZCB-approved builder.

Comprehensive Cover

The Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee is broader than many other residential guarantees on the market.

Competitive Premiums

Halo is generally less than 0.42% of the total build cost, making it an affordable way to secure one of your biggest investments.

Peace of Mind

Whether it’s a minor defect or a significant structural issue, Halo ensures you have expert support and protection every step of the way.

Fully Transferable

Halo is fully transferable to future owners of your home, offering the same protection for up to 10 years from completion, adding value and confidence for any buyer.

This is a summary of key Halo benefits. For full details see the Halo Homeowner Handbook.

How it works

When you choose an NZCB-approved builder and take out the Halo Guarantee, you’re covered for:

  • 10 years for structural defects including weather-tightness issues caused by the builder or their subcontractors

  • 2 years for non-structural defects covering materials and workmanship

  • Cover that starts at Practical Completion so you get the full benefit of your 10 years of protection

  • Direct protection: if your builder cannot or will not meet their obligations, Halo steps in.

Why choose a NZCB builder?

Only an NZCB builder can offer the Halo Guarantee –  that’s your assurance they meet NZCB’s strict qualification, workmanship, and business standards.
